Maple Old Fashioned

Ingredients

  • 2 ounces bourbon or rye

  • 3–4 dashes aromatic bitters (we use Angostura)

  • ½ teaspoon Mount Cabot Maple maple syrup

  • orange peel

  • ice

  • 1-2 Amarena or Maraschino cherry

Throw out your cane sugar and don’t look back. Bourbon brings its own sweetness, and a small splash of our syrup only emboldens this cocktail - we like a Bulleit Rye or Whiskey Pig. Add a few dashes of bitters, a nice bright squeeze of orange peel, plus a maraschino cherry on top and call it a night.

1. Using a vegetable peeler or knife, cut a 2-3 inch piece of orange peel. Run the peel, pulp-side down, along the rim of the cocktail and set aside.

2. Add Bourbon, bitters and maple syrup. Using a spoon, stir briefly to combine.

3. Add the ice and stir again to mix and chill your cocktail.

4. Garnish the drink by giving the orange peel a good twice to release its oils, then tuck it into the drink. Add your cherry on a toothpick or at the bottom of your drink and serve.
